Celebrating my 21st in lockdown

If you had told me I would be celebrating my 21st birthday in lockdown during a global pandemic at the start of the year I would never ever have believed you!

But here we are, and we made the best of it! My actual plans for my birthday (the 23rd) were to go to Manchester for the day, shopping, drinking and eating. I can’t remember the last time I had a “home day” on my birthday and I am actually so glad I was forced to this year as I really had a great day.

I spent the day chatting to family and friends (on my driveway), drinking, eating party food and taking obligatory balloon photos for Instagram! I had an amazing cake, made by my mum and pretty decorations that were fab! I received some gorgeous gifts too, from sweets and chocolates, to jewellery, gin and a handbag. The weather wasn’t too bad either which definitely helped.

I’m not a massive birthday person in normal circumstances, but I did have a party planned this year which I was a gutted about postponing. I never really dwelled on the fact I was spending my birthday in lockdown, I’ve been too busy to! That might be because I haven’t been massively affected by lockdown, I’ve still been completing university and I’ve had to go to work. I always say everything happens for a reason so I always try and accept things as they unfold, there’s no point being upset when you can’t control everything!

If anyone else has an upcoming birthday likely to be still under lockdown, don’t be too down in the dumps about it, keep in touch with friends and family throughout the day, do your hair and makeup, take some nice photos and have some good food. I can guarantee that will keep your mood up!

Below are some of the photos I took throughout the day!
