These pictures might be my favourite I’ve taken, this outfit is so me and not exactly autumnal but still wearable! You could also layer this outfit more with a thicker jacket or by adding a scarf.
Champion Script Logo T-Shirt – Topshop – I’m a huge t-shirt person, I wear them most days because they’re so easy to throw on and where with anything, especially when you’re in a rush which is me most of the time. I knew I had to get a Champion tee as it’s been in fashion recently and crisp white tees are my favourite anyway. The quality of this t-shirt is amazing and the ‘Champion’ detailing on the front is super soft, as well as the whole t-shirt. You can tell the material is really good quality!
Skinny Fray Hem Jeans from New Look – Similar at Topshop, River Island – I’ve had these jeans over a year and they’re super faded now but I love the fit of them, they’re not very stretchy and they’re quite a tough denim which I love. I always struggle to find the perfect pair of jeans but these are fab!
Blue Distressed Denim jacket from New Look – Similar at New Look, PLT, Missguided – If in doubt, just throw on a denim jacket. They literally go with anything and can be worn at any time of year. You can throw a hoodie or sweatshirt under them, or even wear them with skirts and dresses.
White Slip-On Shoes – Vans – A white shoe is a staple, they look super fresh and go with anything. We also had to throw in a slip-on because when do I not!
Last night I saw Raye live in Manchester!! It was one of the best concerts I’ve been to as she was so good! The atmosphere at concerts is my fave, there’s just nothing like it.
The concert started with Raye’s support art, Kara Marni who I hadn’t really heard much of but she was amazing, her voice is crazy good! I’d recommend giving her a search and a listen! Raye began with ‘Crew’ which was perfect, it’s one of my favourites from her new EP and finished with ‘You Don’t Know Me’ and ‘Decline’ which are my top two favourite songs! I also love that she sang all of her biggest songs as well as some smaller ones so the pace kept changing. She was on stage for a good hour which flew by. I’m probably more of a fan of her now after seeing her live as she was amazing.
I’ll give a quick overview of my outfit which was nothing special but was more weather appropriate than something super dressy. It’s not pictured but I did wear a jacket, don’t worry!
Overdressed T-Shirt – PLT – This tee is super relaxed and is perfect for tucking into jeans or tying like I did. The slogan is also SO me.
Black Jeans – Topshop – To stay comfortable I had to opt for my trusty Topshop jeans.
Lazy Oaf Slip-ons – Vans – To add a little pattern into my outfit I paired some black and white slip-ons with my outfit, they’re also super comfy.
For a day of wandering, eating and drinking in Manchester I opted for a cute and casual outfit. It was fairly chilly but it didn’t warrant wearing a huge jumper or coat!
Cropped T-shirt – Pull&Bear – I love Pull&Bear, their clothes are super affordable yet amazing quality. I love that a lot of their t-shirts have designs on the back as well as the front as you don’t often see that. This t-shirt has a light blue and a dark blue sleeve which I really love as I don’t have a t-shirt with that design so it makes a basic white tee look less plain.
Trousers from Primark. Similar at ASOS, Pull&Bear, PLT – I’ve been looking for some trousers for a while now as wearing jeans all the time gets boring! I also wanted to wear something new so I could post about it. These trousers from Primark were a perfect first purchase, they are comfy and fit really well to say they were only £10! Primark have a lot of different styles and colours of trousers in at the minute so its worth a look!
Checkerboard Slip-on Shoes – Vans – I thought the checkerboard added some pattern into this fairly plain outfit, they’re also my favourite ones I have. Slip-ons are also super comfy and literally have my heart! <33
Suede biker jacket – New Look – I had been looking for a more dressed-up jacket recently as I didn’t really have one. New Look do some fab coats so I knew I would find something there. I got the jacket in grey instead of black for something different as well as the fact I don’t think it would look as nice in a darker colour. The zip and button detailing is black instead of silver or gold which is more common, black does go better with grey so I really like that aspect.
A year ago today I posted my first “introductory” style post to my blog, granted it’s not very long but it was the first thing I’d put out there onto the internet! Having blogged nearly every week for a year is quite an achievement for me as I usually lose interest in things easily…
A few things I’ve learnt in the past year is to persevere and not give up because it can be difficult to think of new ideas as well as ones that will engage people enough to actually read your post. It also often takes up a lot of time to be active on social media and to take good photos, even when you’re having a day where you’re feeling insecure. I’m very obsessive over themes and making sure my Instagram feed looks good, which I probably should dial down a little bit as it’s not that serious!
I knew once I’d started my blog I was going to continue with it and I was going to try my best not to throw in the towel because that would be so easy to do, but I love writing and everything I include on my blog is something I’m passionate about!
If you’ve been reading for a year, a few months or even a few weeks, thank you! I really appreciate all the support and love.
If you’re thinking about starting a blog, I’d say go for it as long as you’d be doing it because you love to write, which is the only reason I do it! Also, write about things you’re interested in, don’t follow the crowd!
This might be my favourite outfit right now! I’ve been wanting to wear more things out of my comfort zone so this is my attempt at that!
Striped jeans – Stradivarius – I’ve actually been keeping an eye out for some striped jeans for a while, it’s probably the only pattern I would wear on trousers to be honest. I know I’m trying to push the boat out but anything louder than stripes is a bit optimistic! These jeans are super comfy and great for the price! I’d say they were mid-rise for anyone interested.
Devil Wears Prada t-shirt – Stradivarius – I’ve read the book series and watched the film so I’m allowed to wear this!! If you’re into fashion and you haven’t done both of the above, then I recommend you do! I didn’t even know this t-shirt existed until I saw Kiran had it! I did get mine in a medium as we know I like t-shirts a little oversized. The image on the front is the perfect size and is amazing quality, I love the pop of red against neutral colours.
White Slip on Shoes – Vans – I will pair some slip-ons with anything, whatever the weather. You can’t beat crisp white shoes, especially with an outfit that also has patterns! The amount of times I have said I’m in love with Vans I should be on some kind of commission…
Black buckle belt – e.buckled – Once I figured out how to wear this belt I loved it! It really makes normal belts look so basic. I think it adds something more to the look as my t-shirt is tucked in so it shows the belt off! These belts come in a variety of colours and thicknesses, they’re super affordable and really do tie your outfit together!
Cream Faux Fur jacket from Forever 21. Similar at PLT, H&M, Missguided, New Look, H&M – I featured this jacket in a post a few weeks ago but as the weather has been dropping lately I’ve been wearing it a lot! It also goes perfectly with this outfit, especially the jeans! Everyone needs a faux fur jacket in their life for the autumn/winter, they are super cosy and look fab.
For this OOTD we took a trip into Manchester to get some photos, I’m loving the colour blue lately so these pictures are great for my Instagram theming! We spent a lot of the day battling the wind and the random warm to cold temperatures, but that’s just England for you! I almost didn’t write a post for this outfit as it is super casual but I really liked the photos from that day so I hope you enjoy it!
Calabasas Sweatshirt – Missguided – We’re going into sweatshirt and hoodie season where you want to be super cosy and comfy, especially if you’re going back to school/college/university. This sweatshirt has batwing sleeves so is even more slouchy, the colour is also one of my faves atm and not a colour typically worn in A/W but you don’t need to stick to dark, moody colours just because it’s going to get cooler.
Jamie Jeans – Topshop – When am I not in these jeans honestly, they’re such a staple in everyone’s wardrobe as they genuinely can be worn all year round with anything. They fit amazingly and everyone should have a pair!
Old Skools – Vans – The basic black and white Old Skools go with anything as they are a really neutral shoe. I paired them with this outfit because the lettering on the sweatshirt is white with a black outline so it would tie in together.
Sunglasses from Primark. Similar at ASOS, River Island, Missguided – The ‘sunglasses on head’ trend has basically been me the whole of summer (when I remembered to leave the house with sunglasses)
I’ve been editing my photos, even if it was just a filter for as long as I can remember. Since I started blogging and began using a camera, I became more interested in how I could make the photos look better. I only edit photos on my phone and all the apps I use are free so feel free to download them and give them a try!
Lightroom – Apple, Google Play – I only started using Lightroom recently as I thought you had to pay for it but you actually get a lot of settings free! I had to watch a few tutorials first as it can be confusing if you don’t know what anything means! Lightroom really enhances any photos and you can create some amazing images on there. I mainly use it for photos I post on my blog but I’ll leave a before and after photo to show you what you can do at the end of this post.
VSCO – Apple, Google Play – I’ve been using VSCO for around three years and it’s the best app for filters! I can always tell if someone uses VSCO just by looking at their photo but they have a variety of filters depending on the look you’re going for! You can plan your Instagram feed on the app as well, I don’t do this as I have too many photos in my ‘Studio’. The filter I’m currently using and have been using for a few years on my personal Instagram is P5, I just change the exposure and temperature every so often.
Inpreview – Apple – Inpreview is perfect for organising your Instagram feed if you have a theme like me, I have to make sure the colourings of the photos are similar so it flows together. My Instagram is very constructed, as are most people’s!
Squaready – Apple, Google Play – I’ve had Squaready on my phone for honestly the longest time, it must be going on 5 years! I’ve always had a border around my Instagram photos as I think it looks better and makes my feed flow…
In this week’s OOTD we’re featuring an easy transition outfit into the the colder months as the summer weather is quickly disappearing! There’s also another attempt at layering, slightly better than last week I have to admit! Shop some of my look below!
Cream Faux Fur jacket from Forever 21. Similar at Topshop, H&M, H&M – I bought this jacket in Spring and haven’t really got much wear out of it since then as we’ve had lots of rare, warm weather in the UK. Faux fur is a big trend in A/W and I will definitely be wearing it more when I go back to uni. I wear a lot of neutral colours, so getting the jacket in cream would make sure it went with more outfits, I also prefer it to a darker colour as they don’t seem to have the same look. Everyone needs a faux fur or a borg jacket in their wardrobes in the autumn especially, they are super cosy and perfect for the colder air.
Black Jamie Jeans – Topshop – As we know, these are my favourite jeans because they fit so well. If you’re looking for some long-lasting and comfy jeans try Topshop because they have SO many styles and colours!
Checkerboard Slip-on Shoes – Vans – My basic Checkerboards Slip-ons are my favourite pair of Vans I own. They go with absolutely everything and add something different to a plain outfit. Slip-ons are so easy to wear and are super comfy, there’s so many colours and patterns as well so there is something for everyone!
White California Slogan T-Shirt – Pretty Little Thing – I love a good slogan t-shirt that I can tie. This one has ‘California West Coast’ printed on the front which is very basic but also very me. PLT can have weird sizes but this t-shirt fits really well, I got it in a medium because I knew I would want to tie it and have it oversized. If you love a basic t-shirt, PLT have quite a large variety online!
This week we have a rare moment of me attempting to layer… As we are coming to the end of the warmer weather I will be transitioning into wearing sweatshirts and hoodies… I won’t complain though because I do like a sweatshirt or a hoodie moment because they’re so casual and comfy, which is basically my style summed up.
Printed sweatshirt – H&M – I love graphic tees, therefore I love graphic sweatshirts! This sweatshirt is so comfy because the lining inside is super fluffy which is perfect for being cosy. I love how the detail is smaller on the front and larger on the back as I don’t think I would have liked the design as much if it was the other way round. I usually prefer hoodies over sweatshirts but this one is in the middle of the two as it has a hood but doesn’t have a pocket at the front. I actually really enjoy this as the pocket is what makes a hoodie look really slouchy.
White slip-ons – Vans – White Vans were perfect for the summer, I will probably keep wearing them through the colder months just because of how crisp they look. Plus, I like to pretend it’s summer all year round because it’s my favourite season! I love every slip-on shoe by Vans as they’re so comfy and easy to style, get yourself a pair!
Black Jamie jeans – Topshop – These jeans are my favourite pair I’ve ever bought, they hardly fade and they fit perfectly, even after months of wear. You may think they’re expensive but they are definitely worth it! Another thing I love about Topshop jeans is that you can get a size that is perfect for you because you choose which waist size and leg length you want. A lot of stores don’t offer this and just go on the basic sizes which are very generic and often vary from store to store.
As you know, I live in jeans, t-shirts and slip-on Vans, I feel most comfortable in this outfit and I do try to vary it as much as I can… This ensemble definitely sums me up and I have to say I’m not looking forward to the colder weather purely because I’m going to have to start… layering.
I wore this outfit to a shopping (mostly window shopping…) day in Leeds. Even though a lot of the day was spent indoors, the sun was shining most of the time so a jacket wasn’t needed (thank God because I hate jackets…).
Beach Days tee – ASOS – This tee is fab, I’m loving Pull&Bear lately, they have some great clothes for really affordable prices! I love the design on this as it’s quite colourful and summery, I have it in a larger size as I love to tuck/tie my tees and roll up the sleeves so it’s more slouchy.
Black Jamie Jeans – Topshop – These are my favourite and go-to pair of black jeans, a staple pair of black jeans goes with anything and can be worn all year round. Jamie jeans are my personal favourite style at Topshop, if you love skinny jeans these are a good investment as I’ve had these months and they haven’t faded!
Frappe-True White Checkerboard Vans – Vans – I treat myself to a new pair of Checkerboards as I was wearing my black and white ones to death! I wasn’t sure about the colour when I first ordered them as they look quite pink on the website, however they are a nude colour which I was pleased about. I know nude will go with a lot which is why I didn’t really want to get a blue or red pair as it limits you! If you don’t own a pair of slip-on Vans, I highly recommend them as they’re SO comfy and are definitely my favourite style of shoe I own!
