Everyday makeup

I realised I hadn’t done a proper makeup post since February and some of the products I use have changed since then so here is an update for those interested!

I don’t wear a lot of makeup everyday, even for occasions I never wear foundation, so I’d consider my routine fairly simple and easy, even if it still takes me a good hour to do! I’m going to list everything I use in order because I’m super organised!

Bioderma Photoderm Tinted Aquafluid – Feel Unique – I’m including this as part of my makeup routine, even though I have included it in skincare before, just because it really replaces foundation for me. It gives me a more even skintone as well as giving it some colour. I’ve been using this moisturiser everyday for months and I absolutely love it, it’s definitely the best I’ve tried so far. 100% recommend!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (Green) – Superdrug – I bought this recently after seeing it floating around YouTube and I was pleasantly surprised, I don’t use it everyday but it’s really good at at covering any red marks/spots!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (2 – Cool Medium) – Superdrug, Boots – I have been using this concealer years, I’ve only strayed from it once to try an Estee Lauder one, but even that which was 5x the price doesn’t beat Collection!

Tanya Burr Perfect Brows Palette – Feel Unique – This is another product you would have to drag me away from… I’ve been using this years, again, I did stray to a brow pomade but they aren’t as easy to apply and just don’t work well for me. I just use the bottom right shade to enhance my brow shape!

Benefit Hoola Bronzer – Boots, Feel Unique – This is my favourite part of my routine, I couldn’t do my makeup without bronzer… It’s matte, so it’s not shimmery which is perfect for the look I prefer. I probably make two purchases of these a year, which is really good, baring in mind I sit applying it for a good 20 minutes. So you’re getting your moneys worth!

Morphe 25B Bronzed Mocha Palette – Morphe – I love Morphe palettes, I have a couple of others but this one is my favourite. I mainly uses browns, reds and oranges on my eyes and this palette has 25 shades as well as some lovely shimmers. Morphe is so affordable and they have some amazing palettes, I don’t think I would spend the ABH/Urban Decay prices on eyeshadow as I couldn’t justify it!

Sleek Solstice Highlighter – Boots, Feel Unique – I use the bottom left shade in the inner corners of my eyes aswell as on my cheekbones sometimes. This palette has lasted me ages and I use it everyday! Using highlighter in the inner corner of your eyes really brighten them up in my opinion and I can usually tell if I don’t have it on!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara – Superdrug, Boots, Feel Unique – Everyone raved about this mascara at one point and it’s honestly so good, I’ve been using this years aswell… This is why I don’t do makeup posts very often! But Maybelline is one of the best for mascaras, they make your lashes so long and not clumpy.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder (5 – Silky Beige) – Superdrug, Feel Unique, Boots – If you know me, you’ll know I whip this out throughout the day to control any shine. I own about 5 of these and am always carrying one! If the name of the product doesn’t give it away already, this powder keeps you looking matte which is something I need!

NYX Control Freak Eyebrow Gel – Boots, Feel Unique – Everyone needs this eyebrow gel, if you have brows that need to be kept in place, you need to go and buy this! My eyebrow powder doesn’t move all day with this on them!

Kiko 3D Hydra Gloss (22 – Chestnut) – Kiko Milano – I love gloss and I’ve been wanting to try a Hydra gloss from Kiko for months, I wasn’t disappointed as the shade I got was a perfect nude. Once it’s dried a little it isn’t sticky which is rare with glosses, so I was pleased about that!

Urban Decay De Slick Setting Spray – Feel Unique – I’m not sure if this controls my shine as much as I hoped it would as I still have to use my matte powder (not as often though!) I don’t use foundation or huge amounts of concealer so maybe if I did, I would notice more of a difference. I just have to finish off my makeup with a setting spray as it wouldn’t be complete without it.

Bardot tops & Sliders

My latest OOTD is a little more formal than what you usually see me in, it would be perfect for a more dressed-up occasion in the warmer weather. I love wearing black and white as its so classic and you literally can’t go wrong, they’re also the easiest colours to wear. So if you’re looking for a casual but dressy outfit for an upcoming occasion, then this outfit might be for you!

Black Bardot top – New Look – I love bardot tops in summer! They’re just a variation of a t-shirt really lmao. But I do think they’re really cute and do dress up an outfit! This black one is super comfy and is a good length to pair with some jeans. Everyone needs a bardot top or two in their wardrobe as they’re perfect for a “jeans and a nice top” occasion.

White jeans from New Look. Similar at Topshop, River Island – White jeans in summer are a must-have, there’s just something about the warmer weather that makes you want to dig them out your wardrobe. White jeans are like black ones in the sense that you can wear them with basically anything. For me, white jeans are for occasions and not just a casual day but that’s just my preference!

Black Sandals from H&M. Similar at H&M, Office – I absolutely love these slider/sandals, as soon as I saw them I knew I had to get them, they’re soo me! They might not be the easiest/comfiest to walk in but they are so cute and really finish off the outfit. I love those shoes that you can only really get away with in the summer because they require warm weather. Summer shoes are usually super pretty though and really make an outfit.

B&W Barbie & Old Skools

We’re back with another OOTD, this type of post might be my favourite! Last week some friends and I went to Junkyard Golf in Manchester and spent more time having a photoshoot than we did playing the golf… but nothing’s new there! The striped walls also made for a cute background to show off my summery outfit for the day!

Barbie spliced T-shirt from Missguided. Similar at Missguided, Missguided – I love the Barbie collaboration with Missguided, the tops are so comfy and fit really well. The designs are super unique and different as I don’t think you see many spliced tees out there! I tied it as it would be too long to not do so, I could have had it tucked in but I feel like that comes with a lot of maintenance lmao, you get me though? There’s a huge range of Barbie themed tops, shorts, jackets, etc on the Missguided website so you must check it out!

Denim mini skirt from Pull & Bear. Similar at Topshop, ASOS – I love this mini skirt, it fits perfectly and is a go-to in the warmer weather. Black goes with anything as we know so it was easy to pair with the tee. Think I’ll be wearing it with tights and boots in the winter aswell!

Old Skool Shoes – Vans – I’ve had these Vans nearly two years and they’re such a staple. They’re easy to wear and are very comfy, even walking round Manchester for 5 hours! Vans are probably my favourite brand of shoe, I live in the slip-ons as I have a few pairs of those now. If you’re looking for a shoe that goes with anything and are in trend, these monochrome Old Skools are for you!

Skincare, skincare, skincare

I have always taken care of my skin, I’ve had a routine for years as I know how important it is to take care of it because your skin stays with you as you age! If you don’t have a skincare routine I hope I inspire you to start one as it’s super important. My last skincare post was three months ago in April so I have some new favourites to tell you about!

*Bioderma Photoderm Tinted Cream – Feel Unique – I wrote about this tinted moisturiser in a few previous posts and I’m still using it everyday as it evens out my skintone and gives my face some colour as my face does not tan (it’s really annoying, anyone else the same?). I can always tell if I haven’t applied this before my makeup as I’m not as tanned and my skin colour is less even.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray – Beauty Bay – This spray is my favourite out of all three in the Mario Badescu range as it’s so refreshing and cooling on my skin. This spray is perfect for the warmer weather if you need cooling down, spraying it on top of makeup doesn’t make it run either, as long as you don’t go overboard with it of course.

Intense Moisture Cream – The Body Shop – My skin needs an intense moisturiser as I have dry areas and this one makes my skin feel so soft, it isn’t greasy either and doesn’t make your face super shiny!

Simple Micellar Cleansing Water – Superdrug – This micellar water is one of the only micellars I will use as a lot contain polyaminopropyl biguanide (PHMB) which is banned in some countries as it can be harmful. Some well-known products that currently contain PHMB are the L’Oreal and Garnier micellar waters! This Simple one works really well and doesn’t irritate my skin at all which is one of the main things I look for in a makeup remover as my skin is very sensitive.

St Tropez Self Tan Facial Oil – Beauty Bay – This is my latest obsession and newest purchase! I’ve been thinking about getting a self tanning oil for my face for a while as I refuse to use actual fake tan because a lot of people say it clogs up pores and I don’t really think fake tan that you use on your body should ever be on your face! I apply this after doing my skincare on an evening and then in the morning my face is significantly browner! I use 4 drops and make sure it’s evenly distributed to avoid looking orange or patchy, I haven’t experienced either of those yet which is a good sign! I highly recommend this to anyone with a paler face than the rest of their body which is a problem I have…

Simple Rich Moisturiser – Superdrug – If you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful moisturiser that’s not too thick or too light, I’d recommend this one. As I’ve probably mentioned before, my skin is quite sensitive, especially on my cheeks and this moisturiser doesn’t make me flare up at all.

*Bioderma Hydrabio Gel Creme – Bioderma, Feel Unique – I really enjoy this moisturiser, it’s super light and cooling on the skin and you definitely don’t need a lot of it. I’ve also never seen a moisturiser that looks like this before with the pump, where the product comes out, being at the bottom! It doesn’t have the same consistency as your average moisturiser, it’s more gel-like but I like that as it makes for a good makeup base. It’s very hydrating and doesn’t make your face look greasy, which a lot of moisturisers I’ve used in the past do!

Heatwave essentials

Recently in the UK we have been experiencing something extremely rare for a quite a few weeks or months now and everyone is basically unprepared. You guessed it, it’s the warmer weather!! This weeks post is dedicated to my essentials in the sun and what I’ve been loving lately!

First things first, the best and only drink to get you through the heatwave is Fanta Lemon, honestly if I could only drink one thing for the rest of my life that would be it!! It’s so refreshing and I’m just in love, if you haven’t tried it yet, YOU HAVE TO.

Another thing I love in the summertime is reading, if you’re a student like me you’ll probably have a lot of free time and everyone should definitely find a good book! I was into reading at the beginning of summer but I have recently got out of the habit, if you know of any juicy books let me know!!

Some products, clothing and accessories I’ve been loving in the sun are listed below!

Runner shorts – Topshop, ASOS, PLT, New Look  – I LOVE runner shorts for lounging and when I’m having a more casual day. I get most of mine from Primark but you can get them in most clothing stores, including the ones I have linked!

Sliders – JD Sports, Foot Asylum, Vans – I’m partial to the slider trend, I wear them in all weathers, they’re so easy to throw on when you can’t be bothered LMAO. I have the CK ones linked under Foot Asylum but I’m loving the Vans ones! Obviously because they’re checkerboard…

The Fox Tan Tanning Mist – PLT, Superdrug – I have been loving this tanning mist lately. I do use suncream as well though!! The Fox Tan tans me quicker than just wearing suncream but you do have to be careful not to burn if you have fair skin! There’s a lot of misconception about suncreams, so read this to learn what the SPF number means and what UVA, UVB and UVC rays are!

Sunglasses – PLT, Topshop, H&M – Sunglasses are a must-have when it’s sunny, I love a few different styles and have linked a few I’ve found that are similar to ones I already have. Also, Primark do fab sunglasses for literally under £5, but if you’re looking for better eye protection I’d look at Topshop, they have some amazing styles as well as still being affordable!

Mario Badescu Facial Spray – Beauty Bay – By now everyone should know this is my favourite facial spray and it’s even more refreshing in the summertime when the warmer weather hits. I recommend this facial spray to everyone and you should definitely have it in your skincare routine!

Chilly’s Bottle – Chilly’s – I love my Chilly’s bottle, especially in warmer weather as it really does keep cold drinks cold even if it’s in direct sunlight! These type of bottles are perfect for all year round as they keep warm drinks warm as well, but during the summer I love a ice cold drink and Chilly’s bottles are amazing!

Lipbalm – Nivea Essential Care – If you know me you’ll know how obsessed I am with lipbalm. People use these the most in the colder months but if you’re out in the sun a lot I do think it can make your lips dry as well as your skin. My favourite lipbalm is linked but I do love the Bioderma one also.

What apps I’m loving

I’ve done a post like this before but I’m loving lots of different apps lately I thought I’d share them with you! I have an iPhone so all the apps I mention are available on Apple, however I will link the Android versions if I can find them!

Instagram – Apple, Android – Instagram might be my favourite app as I love photos and seeing my theme on my feed come together. Even though it’s probably the fakest social media as everything is so carefully curated and put together as everyone wants to look good to their followers, I still love it lol. Follow my IG here!

Snapchat – Apple, Android – I love Snapchat and it’s one of the main ways I talk to my friends, if I’m gonna post or send anyone videos it’s most likely going to be on Snapchat, it’s just so easy to use and everyyyyyone has it!

Twitter – Apple, Android – Twitter has gotten better recently! I love having a scroll through my timeline to see what’s going on, it’s also my main source of news as everything is in one place. Follow my Twitter here.

Apple Music – My profile – I love Apple Music, I prefer it over Spotify, I just think it’s more aesthetically pleasing to look at lol. It’s also easier to use than Spotify because it’s Apple.

VSCO – Apple, Android – VSCO is what I use to edit allll my pictures! I might write a post dedicated to my photo apps if you’re interested as I use a few! Also my themes on both Instagrams are different so if you want to know how I edit them, let me know!

Inpreview – Apple, Android (similar) – I use this for my personal IG mainly as I care more about my feed on there and making sure all the pictures fit together (it’s an obsession of mine…). I plan posts using this app and it’s fab! Defo recommend if you have a theme on IG!

Flightradar24 – Apple, Android – So this is one of the apps that I use a lot that’s probably weird, but do you ever see a plane flying above you and wonder where it’s going? Because that’s me and this app tells you where any plane is going!! It’s so cool HAHAHA.

Been – Apple, Android – You can use this app to track which countries you have visited! It’s really good for those who travel a lot or have been to a lot of different places!

YouTube – Apple, Android – I love YouTube, I have a few YouTubers I watch daily who I love. I also end up watching random videos too, you know the ones that pop up in your suggestions that lead to you watching YouTube for hours…

Google Maps – Apple, Android – I used to use Apple Maps but Kiran (shoutout) recommended Google Maps as it’s more reliable and easy to use. I’ve used it on a few journeys now and it is better than Apple Maps so I’d recommend you get it!

Pink Barbie & Platforms

Whilst in Tenby in Pembrokeshire the other week there were some cute photo opportunities as most of the buildings are bright colours and look quirky. It was a fairly warm day (hence the mini skirt) so I decided to go co-ordinated with a bit of pink in my outfit which I love!

Barbie x Missguided Pink Camo Spliced T-Shirt from Missguided. Similar at Missguided – I’m not sure you can buy this tee from Missguided anymore as I couldn’t seem to find it on the website! But I linked a similar one and the whole Barbie x Missguided range is amazing! They’re constantly bringing out new releases and they’re fab. I’ve said this before but the t-shirts are so comfy and fit really well.

Pull & Bear Denim Skirt – ASOS – This skirt has a perfect fit which is rare to find as skirts are usually either too big on the waist or too baggy at the bottom. I’m nearly 5’8 and I got a size M which is a 10 if you’re basing your size on mine! The colour also isn’t washed out and is quite dark which is just what I wanted as there’s nothing worse than washed black in my opinion.

Pale Pink Old Skool Platform Vans – Schuh – I rarely wear these Vans as I’m always scared to dirty them as they’re suede but the colour is so pretty and it’s such a spring/summer colour. I like the fact they have a platform sole as I don’t have many shoes like that and I some shoes do look better that way.

Black double ring belt – River Island – I love this belt and would recommend it to anyone looking for a subtle belt to add a little something to their outfit.

Must have accessories

I’m not someone who wears super out-there accessories but I do like to wear simple pieces everyday or most days. You’ll notice I prefer silver over gold jewellery as I feel it looks better on a lighter skin tone. I’ve listed my must haves as well as some favourites I’ve found online below!

Skagen Karolina Watch – Watch Shop – This is my favourite watch and is something I feel will never age. I’m obsessed with the strap as it’s definitely my favourite out of any others! This watch is also super versatile as it will go with anything!

Pandora rings – Shining Wish Ring, Wish Ring, Radiant Elegance Ring, Bouquet Ring, Dazzling Daisy Ring, and the latter in rose gold but it has discontinued – I love rings and I basically feel naked without them, I only have Pandora rings purely because they are (kind of) affordable and they’re super pretty!

Earrings – Studs, Oversized hoops – I have two ear piercings in both ears (debating a third) and I always have studs in but if it’s an occasion I usually throw a pair of hoops in the mix. You can’t go wrong with hoops, they really dress up an outfit in my opinion.

Necklaces – Silver diamante, Taurus pendant, Lariat – I prefer low key, cute necklaces to ones that make a statement as that’s more me. Understated necklaces can make a plain t-shirt look less plain!

Bracelets – Pandora Sliding bracelet – I love sliding bracelets, this was one of the only ones I could find. The one you see me wearing on Instagram is from Avon but I can’t find it anywhere, I love it and I wear it everyday! Sparkly bracelets are my fave!

Belts – Double ring belt – I was never into belts much but when I bought this one I realised how much they do add to a plain pair of jeans!

Bags – Tote bag, Shoulder bag – I’m not as much of a bag person as I am a shoe person but I do know a good bag when I see one. Through the summer I prefer a cross body bag but the tote bag I’ve linked is fab!! When I have more to carry I use this and it’s perfect!

Caps – White, Black – I love a good cap when I’m wearing no makeup and am forced to leave the house, also they are a must have when sunbathing! White and black caps are staples through the summer and are a go-to when you’re not feeling your best.

Sunglasses – Cat eyes, Oversized – I LOVE sunglasses, whether they’re on my head or actually on my face you just can’t go wrong and it’s rare I leave the house without them in the summer! One tip I do have is that you have to find the perfect shape for your face! I tried on so many styles until I realised a cat eye suits me best. I’ve also linked some oversized ones as they are an essential when going incognito lmao.

Neutrals for Ascot

Last week my godparents had an Ascot themed anniversary party! I was super excited to get dressed up as I don’t do it very often (you might have noticed I seem to live in jeans and t-shirts). Even though I did wear neutral colours I went out of my comfort zone! See what I wore and where I got it from below.

Cream High Waisted Straight Leg Trousers – PLT – I ordered a bunch of white trousers from Pretty Little Thing and these were my favourite, the material is lovely and doesn’t feel cheap which is a fear of mine when ordering online. They fit really nicely and I love the flared bottoms, I’ve been wanting to debut a trouser-look for a while but I’m always too scared to go out of my comfort zone too much! These trousers are super comfortable and not restrictive which I love because there’s nothing worse than feeling like you can’t move because your trousers are too tight!

High Neck Side Split Crop Top – PLT – I love a high neck moment as I feel like they suit me and as I wanted something a little more dressy for the occasion I felt like a high neck was appropriate! This top is super high quality because of the ribbed material and the cut outs at either side give it some edge. I did sew the sides a little so the cut outs weren’t as big as I probably would have felt a little exposed!

Black Suedette Block Heels – New Look – These heels are super versatile and you can literally wear them with anything. I’d advise everyone to have a pair of these in their wardrobe because whenever you might be in doubt as to what shoes to wear you can just throw these on! I prefer a block heel to a stiletto just because they’re comfier and easier to walk in! Also as I was in all black and white I had to wear a black heel!

Black Faux Fur Shoulder bag – PLT – This little bag is super cute for these more dressy occasions and actually fits quite a lot in! The silver chain is what makes the outfit for me as I wear silver jewellery and the chain just makes it all look more polished in my opinion.

Black Lace Bralet – Primark – Seeing as though my top had cut outs on the sides I wanted to wear a cute bralet underneath as I knew it would be showing. This lovely one from Primark was only £4 and I can see myself wearing it whenever I wear a top that would show it!

My rings are all Pandora and my watch is Skagen, watch out for an accessories post coming soon.

Mini skirts & Slip-ons

Last week I went to Swansea to visit some family and the weather was quite warm most of the time! We’ve been getting a lot of hot weather recently in Britain and I’m loving it as it’s super rare! For a day of wandering around new places, grabbing lunch and browsing shops I opted for a comfy look with a denim skirt and a trusty t-shirt.

New York Skyline T-shirt – Topshop – This is the newest t-shirt in my collection and I love it, it’s super simplistic with a little New York detailing and of course it had to be white! It fits really well but isn’t long enough to be able to tie.

Pull&Bear Denim Skirt – ASOS – I’ve been looking for a black denim skirt that fits perfectly for a while and I ordered this one from ASOS to try. I was really impressed as I don’t usually buy clothes from Pull&Bear but I think I’ll be looking there in future. The only downside it that it is a tad too short but it’s not so short that it’s unacceptable LMAO.

Checkerboard Classic Slip-on Vans – Vans – As we know these shoes are my favourites, they’re so unique and bring something to every outfit.

Black double ring belt – River Island – This belt was out of stock for the longest time and I finally got it!! I’ve seen a lot of this style of belt around but in gold instead of silver, I prefer silver as I wear more silver jewellery and it would tie in better for that reason. I really like how this belt gives an outfit a little bit extra especially as I usually have my tops tucked in or tied.
